Pan-Stuffed Buns: No Oven Needed and Economical

Who says you need an oven to enjoy delicious stuffed buns? These pan-stuffed buns are not only easy to make but also budget-friendly. Here’s how to whip up these delightful treats:

Ingredients:

  • 3 1/4 cups flour
  • 1 cup milk
  • 2.8 ounces melted butter
  • Salt, to taste
  • Grated cheese (300g of your choice, like mozzarella)
  • Cold meats of your choice (e.g., chicken, ham, salami)

Preparation:

  1. Prepare the Dough:
    • In a bowl, combine 300g of flour and a pinch of salt. Mix well.
    • Add 250ml of lukewarm milk and 40g of melted butter. Stir to combine, then add another 100g of flour.
    • Transfer the dough to a floured work surface and knead until it forms a smooth, homogeneous ball.
    • Cover the dough with cling film and let it rest in the refrigerator for at least 10 minutes (preferably 30 minutes to 1 hour if time allows).
  2. Prepare the Filling:
    • Grate 300g of your favorite cheese (e.g., mozzarella).
    • Cut the cold meats into thin strips. We chose chicken bequeen, but you can use any preferred cold cut.
  3. Shape the Buns:
    • Divide the dough into 8 pieces for larger buns, or into 4 for smaller ones.
    • Flour the work surface to prevent sticking, and roll out each piece of dough. Add flour as needed to prevent sticking to the rolling pin.
    • Place a generous handful of grated cheese and some cold meat strips in the center of each piece of dough.
    • Fold the edges towards the center, pinching them to seal the dough well. If necessary, use a rolling pin to flatten and seal the buns further.
  4. Cook the Buns:
    • In a pan over low heat, melt a little butter.
    • Place the buns in the pan and cook for 2 minutes on each side, or until golden brown and cooked through. Turn again if necessary to ensure even cooking.
  5. Serve and Enjoy:
    • Once cooked, your pan-stuffed buns are ready to serve. Enjoy them hot, with the melted cheese and delicious cold meats inside.

Tips:

  • Variations: Feel free to experiment with different types of cheese and cold meats to suit your taste.
  • Storage: Store any leftover buns in an airtight container in the refrigerator. Reheat them in a pan or microwave before serving.
